he Hyundai i30 actually didn't get its last facelift until 2024. Now, however, a new prototype has been spotted at the Hyundai test site. Is there a third facelift coming for the Korean?
It was not until 2024 that the compact Korean was revised with a facelift. Now, however, pictures of a new prototype have surfaced. Will there be a third update? All information and pictures of the Hyundai i30 facelift.

Hyundai i30 third facelift – Design
The newly spotted test car on Hyundai's company premises shows itself with strong camouflage on the front and rear. Accordingly, we could expect the typical design adjustments to bumpers, headlights and grille in a facelift. However, since the vehicle was only revised in 2024, we actually expect more than just changes to the exterior.
With the existing camouflage, it is not really possible to see changes in the covered areas. However, the partially visible air intakes at the front seem to have a different design.
There are also no significant changes to the sides and rear. The light design at the back seems to match the current model.

Die scheinbar kaum vorhandenen Überarbeitungen außen, lassen die Vermutung zu, dass die Tarnung vor allem Änderungen unter der Motorhaube kaschieren soll. So könnten neue aerodynamische Anpassungen oder eine geänderte Abgasanlage auf neue Motoren schließen.
Der Hyundai i30 wird in Europa ab 2026 mit noch strengeren Abgasvorschriften zurechtkommen müssen und der nun gesichtete Erlkönig könnte dementsprechend “nur” ein kleines Antriebsupdate sein, damit Hyundai den Kompaktwagen in Europa weiterhin verkaufen kann. Soweit wir wissen planen die Koreaner nicht mit einer Mischplattform als Ersatz für den seit 2017 eingeführten i30, sondern wollen stattdessen eine komplette elektrische Neuentwicklung innerhalb der Ioniq-Reihe als zukünftigen Ersatz für den i30 bauen. Falls dies zutrifft, dürfte ein kleines Motorenupdate als drittes Facelift den alternden i30 noch ein wenig länger am Markt halten, bevor er dann ersetzt wird.

Noch haben wir keinerlei offizielle Informationen bezüglich des neuen Hyundai i30. Angesichts der ab 2026 geltenden strengeren Abgasvorschriften, dürfte dieses dritte Facelift aber nicht mehr allzu weit entfernt sein. Falls hauptsächlich nur an den Motoren Anpassungen vorgenommen werden, dann könnte das dritte Facelift als “kleines Motorenupdate” noch Ende diesen Jahres vorgestellt werden.
If Hyundai is not in too much of a hurry with the i30, an announcement could also be made later. Until a full-fledged electric replacement is added to the Korean carmaker's range, however, the compact car is likely to get a lot of attention.
